Member of Parliament for Brampton South, Sonia Sidhu, has put forward a motion on active living in the House of Commons, aimed at recognizing the importance of physical activity and encouraging collaboration between all levels of government. Over the years, especially following the pandemic, MP Sidhu has heard from residents, stakeholders, and community organizations that physical activity is key to preventing chronic disease, as well as improving physical and mental health. 

MP Sidhu is particularly aware of the local situation in Brampton. With a rapidly growing population and a diverse community, Brampton faces unique challenges when it comes to promoting active living. However, the community also has a wealth of organizations and initiatives that are working hard to make it easier for residents to incorporate physical activity into their lives. By supporting these efforts and investing in local infrastructure, Brampton can become a leader in active living and set an example for communities across Canada.

"Active living is essential for our physical and mental wellbeing, as well as for building strong and healthy communities," said MP Sonia Sidhu. "I am proud to put this motion on notice in the House of Commons, and I believe that by working together, we can make Canada a more active and healthy nation," she said. 

She looks forward to conversations with stakeholders and community leaders in Brampton and across the country as she continues her work to promote healthy eating and active living in Canada.
