As Chair of the all-Party Diabetes Caucus and the Celiac Caucus in Canada, Member of Parliament Sonia Sidhu proudly joined her colleagues for an important discussion with the leaders of Canadian school food coalition partners to discuss ways all children in our schools can benefit from a truly National School Food policy. MP Sidhu raised issues of cultural sensitivity, access to gluten free food and meals for children with diabetes.
In the community, MP Sidhu spoke at an important seminar for seniors funded by the Government of Canada to raise awareness about diabetes screening and care. Seniors in Canada are suffering from the consequences of this disease, and Brampton seniors are no exception. MP Sidhu’s bill C-237 helped create a National Diabetes Strategy in Canada and in this parliamentary mandate, she is determined to bring the benefits of this plan to her city and communities across Canada.
Finally, MP Sidhu spoke at the 5th Annual Urban Planners Forum in Canada where she updated hundreds of international participants, experts, parliamentarians and citizens on Canada’s record in investing in public transit, active transportation and green infrastructure. She specifically highlighted the recent investments in Brampton that already benefit seniors, youth and families.
MP Sidhu welcomes these initiatives as crucial steps towards building a more inclusive and equitable Canada. She believes that by celebrating the diversity of women and promoting their participation in all sectors of society, we can create a stronger and more prosperous country for everyone.
