Under clear summer skies, Member of Parliament for Brampton South, Sonia Sidhu welcomed over a thousand residents, neighbours, and families to Lougheed Park for her Annual Canada Day Celebration and BBQ on July 5, 2025, celebrating the spirit of Canada, the vibrancy of Brampton’s diverse community, and the shared values that unite Canadians.
The event saw strong civic and community participation, with many dignitaries in attendance, including Mayor Patrick Brown, Deputy Mayor Harkirat Singh, Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor, Councillor Dennis Keenan, Councillor Rowena Santos, Councillor Paul Vicente, and Councillor Navjit Kaur Brar. MP Sidhu was also joined by her federal colleagues, including Secretary of State for Combating Crime Ruby Sahota, Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali, MP Amandeep Sodhi (Brampton Centre), MP Aslam Rana (Hamilton Centre), MP Iqra Khalid (Mississauga—Erin Mills), and MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith (Beaches—East York). Community leaders and groups from all ethnic and religious backgrounds came together to celebrate, demonstrating the diversity and unity that define Brampton South.
MP Sidhu extended her sincere gratitude to the incredible volunteers whose hard work made the celebration possible, and to community vendors and organizations that hosted booths during the event, including TMU Integrated Health Centres, ACHEV, PAMA, ROOTS, Black Hub Social Services, CMHA, Peel Regional Police, all of whom contribute to the well-being and vibrancy of our communities.
During her remarks, MP Sidhu highlighted the words of Prime Minister Carney on the government’s commitment to building one strong Canadian economy through the passage of Bill C-5, which removes interprovincial trade barriers and accelerates nation-building projects to create good jobs while protecting Canada’s sovereignty.
