After a great summer in Brampton South connecting with residents at community events, Member of Parliament for Brampton South, is back in Ottawa for the Fall Parliamentary Session to represent her constituents.
As Parliament resumes, MP Sidhu will continue her service on the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health, where she will advance efforts to strengthen health care and improve supports for Canadians living with chronic illnesses. Through this work, she is focused on ensuring families have better access to care and on promoting long-term wellness in communities across Canada.
This week, MP Sidhu spoke in the House of Commons to address a key priority for Brampton South residents—public safety. She emphasized the importance of keeping dangerous offenders off the streets and highlighted the federal government’s plan to strengthen bail reform, impose tougher sentences on home invasions, extortion, and repeat violent offenders, while investing directly in law enforcement. MP Sidhu reaffirmed that keeping communities safe requires collaboration with every level of government.
MP Sidhu also welcomed major national initiatives announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney to grow Canada’s economy and make life more affordable:
- Major Projects Office – The government unveiled the first five transformative projects—worth over $60 billion—spanning liquified natural gas, nuclear power, mining, and critical minerals. These investments will create thousands of good jobs, safeguard Canada’s economic sovereignty, and reinforce Canada’s position as the strongest economy in the G7.
- Build Canada Homes – A new federal agency to accelerate construction of affordable and non-market housing. With an initial capitalization of $13 billion, Build Canada Homes will partner with provinces, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and private developers to double housing construction, cut building timelines, and reduce homelessness.
“These new initiatives will help keep Brampton safe, strengthen Canada’s economy, and build the homes Canadians need,” said MP Sidhu. “As we begin this new Parliamentary session, I will continue working every day to deliver for the people of Brampton South.
