Brampton families marked a major milestone as the Prime Minister visited the city to officially launch the federal Build Communities Strong Fund and announce its first project: the Embleton Community Centre and Park located in Brampton South.
The project includes a $64 million federal investment to build a 175,000‑square‑foot, multi‑use community centre that will serve residents across Brampton South and southwest Brampton. Once completed, the new facility will include a pool, gymnasium, fitness centre, childcare space, and flexible community areas designed for recreation, wellness, and community gatherings.
“Investing in places where families gather, learn, and grow strengthens our entire community. The Embleton Community Centre and Park is a meaningful step forward for Brampton South — delivering a modern, inclusive space that will serve families, seniors, and youth for generations.” Said Sonia Sidhu, MP for Brampton South
The Embleton Comunity Centre and Park is the first of 13 projects being funded across the country under the Build Communities Strong Fund, part of the federal government’s broader effort to strengthen local infrastructure, support growing communities, and create good jobs.
This landmark investment reflects strong collaboration between federal and municipal partners and responds directly to the needs of one of Canada’s fastest‑growing communities. Construction planning is underway, with the project expected to become a cornerstone of community life in Brampton for decades to come.
“Canada’s new government is on a mission to build big things, including the local infrastructure that brings Canadians together. With the Build Communities Strong Fund, we are partnering with provinces and territories to move projects forward, reduce barriers to building, and deliver the housing and infrastructure Canadians need – from hospitals and transit lines to bridges and community centres. We are building communities strong to build Canada strong for all.”
— The Rt. Hon. Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada
