MP SONIA SIDHU HOSTS GTA MPs IN BRAMPTON SOUTH FOR AMAZON VISIT
March 12, 2018

Brampton, ON – Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South, welcomed her parliamentary colleagues from the GTA to her riding of Brampton South as they visited the high-tech Amazon robotics distribution centre.

“Last time I was at this facility, my colleagues and I were joined by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau” said MP Sidhu. “It was his first visit to Brampton as Prime Minister and I was glad he was able to see Brampton as a city of innovation, diversity, and progress. Now I am glad that my colleagues from the 905 region had the opportunity to see Brampton again in the same light.”

For her part in advocating for Bramptonians, MP Sidhu put forward ideas of employee well-being initiatives and hiring practices that best serve Bramptonians during her visit to Amazon.

With hundreds of full-time jobs created, education programs for their employees, and collaborations with local organizations, businesses like Amazon are investing in Brampton, its workers, and its youth. This plays into a much bigger picture of Brampton becoming a hub for innovative companies to set up shop in Brampton in order to grow and expand.

“Whether it is Canon, Medtronic, Amazon, or the new Canadian Blood Services testing laboratory making Brampton the city that is performing 60% of Canada’s testing activities, the message is clear” continued MP Sidhu. “Brampton is a city making a name for itself as a top destination for businesses and organizations.”

Since being elected, the Government of Canada has worked hand-in-hand with Canadians resulting in the creation of almost 600,000 jobs and the lowest unemployment rate Canada has seen in almost forty years. Now the Government will continue to strengthen the middle class and make investments to support Canada’s long-term economic growth. Budget 2018 will put a special focus on ensuring that all Canadians have the skills and opportunities they need to participate fully and equally in our economy – something cities like Brampton will benefit from as it continues to grow.
