Brampton, ON – Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South, welcomed the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour to downtown Brampton last weekend as the tour made its way through Ontario.

Family events and activities kicked off on Saturday with festivities continuing into Sunday for families and hockey fans alike to enjoy, including a meet and greet with hockey icons and NHL alumni like Darryl Sittler, Rick Vaive, and Wendel Clark.

“Sports bring Canada’s diverse communities together, and over this past weekend we saw that first hand in Brampton as Bramptonians came together to enjoy one of Canada’s favourite pastimes” said MP Sidhu. “It was great to seeing so many families out together in Brampton South enjoying the festivities.”

The Hon. Minister Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, was also present to take part in the events in Brampton South. Ahead of the game, MP Sidhu took the stage to deliver greetings on behalf of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who shared his regards and best wishes for a memorable event in Brampton.

As the New Jersey Devils took on the Montreal Canadiens, the broadcast was aired in Garden Square with a pre-game show hosted by Ron Maclean and Tara Slone from inside the Sportsnet Mobile Studio, in addition to the game being broadcasted on location by the Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition broadcast team.
