July 28th, 2020 – BRAMPTON

The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities has announced funding through the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan for four public transit projects in Brampton, Ontario.

The Government of Canada is investing more than $45 million in these projects through the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream (PTIS). The Government of Ontario is contributing more than $37 million, while the City of Brampton is contributing more than $30 million.

These projects will create a new Downtown Transit Hub, Rehabilitate 300 busses, Purchase 72 new busses and replace 2,100 onboard cameras. All four projects further improve our transit system by making it more safer and efficient as well as connecting Brampton to the rest of the GTA.

MP Sidhu recognizes that this strategic investment will play a key role in ensuring Bramptonians can get to work on time then safely back home at the end of the day. Under her leadership, Brampton has seen $750 million in upgrades to GO rail service and transit funding for new buses including world-leading zero-emission vehicles that have led the way on climate change action.

She will continue to advocate for investments in reliable, safe, and accessible infrastructure projects which make an impact on the everyday lives of Canadians.
