“Today’s announcement is incredible news for our communities in Brampton South, and across the Region of Peel. The Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA) is such an important piece of our cultural fabric and through strong programs and exhibitions brings Bramptonians together. COVID-19 has imposed unprecedented challenges on our heritage and arts organizations and our Federal Government will continue to be there to ensure a strong recovery. Thank you to PAMA for your important work which truly continues to strengthen our community.”—Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South

“As Minister of Canadian Heritage, I would like to extend my greetings to today’s announcement. The fight against COVID-19 requires a collective, strong and coordinated response. The Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives is proof that art and culture can be part of that effort too. The support announced today will help them pursue their important work and maintain a space where people can share, reflect and grow. I join my colleague Sonia Sidhu in congratulating them for their continuous work towards a better Brampton and a better Canada.”—The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage

“Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is tremendously appreciative of the support received from federal government grant programs. This support has allowed PAMA to create accessible experiences for visitors, provide valuable arts and heritage work experience for students and ensure we can share our collections with the community through preservation and digitization. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, PAMA was closed to the public in mid-March. The Museums Assistance Program, COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Heritage Organizations, has provided an incredible opportunity to continue our preservation and digitization work, which will ensure that the stories, artifacts and documents of the Region of Peel are available for future generations.”—Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives
