Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South and Chair of Canada’s All-Party Diabetes Caucus, addressed the 2025 Global Parliamentary Advocacy Forum at the Maltese Parliament. Canada is proud to lead with our National Diabetes Framework, and we will continue working with global partners to reduce the burden of diabetes and build a healthier future for all,” said MP Sidhu.
The Forum featured high-profile speakers, including Rt. Hon. Theresa May, former UK Prime Minister; Hon. Dr. Anġlu Farrugia, Speaker of the Maltese Parliament; Hon. Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament; and Sir Michael Hirst, former President of the International Diabetes Federation. Key discussions included the launch of the Global Diabetes Index, the WHO Global Diabetes Compact, and the Valletta Call to Action Declaration, endorsed by all participants to drive global advocacy and innovation in diabetes care.
