MP Sonia Sidhu Organized Forum on AI in Health and Innovation joined by National Experts

Member of Parliament Sonia Sidhu (Brampton South) hosted a highly engaging virtual forum bringing together industry leaders, clinicians, researchers, and experts from across Canada to discuss how artificial intelligence is strengthening the country’s health‑care system.

The conversation highlighted real‑world examples of how AI is helping enable earlier diagnosis, streamline clinical workflows, and support more personalized patient care—while emphasizing that clinician‑led decision‑making, transparency, and accountability must remain at the core of adoption.

Participants also underscored the importance of protecting Canadian health data, maintaining strong cybersecurity standards, and advancing ethical governance frameworks that build public trust. Collaboration across government, industry, and the health sector was identified as essential to ensuring that AI tools are introduced in a safe, equitable, and responsible way.

“By working together, Canada can continue moving innovation forward while upholding the highest standards for safety, privacy, and public confidence,” said MP Sidhu.  Discussions highlighted that Canada is well‑positioned to lead in responsible, patient‑centred AI innovation, if investments in trust, safety, and equity continue to accompany technological progress.

The insights gathered will help inform MP Sidhu’s ongoing work on health policy, including future Standing Committee discussions related to digital health, medical innovation, and emerging technologies.
