Sonia Sidhu Joins Minister of National Defence to Brampton’s Roshel Facility Visit, Highlighting Canada’s Growing Defence Capabilities

Hon. David McGuinty, Canada’s Minister of National Defence, along with his Brampton liberal colleagues visited Roshel’s advanced manufacturing facility in Brampton to showcase Canada’s expanding defence capabilities and the city’s leadership in innovation.

During the visit, Minister McGuinty and colleagues toured Roshel’s production lines and met with engineers, technicians, and leadership to see firsthand how Brampton‑built armoured vehicles are strengthening Canada’s contributions to global security and supporting allies around the world.

“Brampton continues to play a vital role in Canada’s defence sector,” said MP Sonia Sidhu. “Roshel’s cutting‑edge work not only supports our international commitments but also drives good jobs, economic growth, and technological excellence right here in our community.”

Roshel, a rapidly growing Canadian manufacturer, has become a key contributor to Canada’s defence supply chain. Their state‑of‑the‑art armoured vehicles are used by Canadian partners and allies, reinforcing Canada’s commitment to global stability and the safety of those on the front lines.

Minister McGuinty highlighted the importance of strong domestic manufacturing in meeting Canada’s defence needs. “Companies like Roshel demonstrate the strength, ingenuity, and capability of Canadian industry,” he said during the tour. “Their work ensures that Canada can continue to support our allies while building a resilient and competitive economy at home.”

The visit underscored Brampton’s emergence as a hub for advanced manufacturing, innovation, and skilled employment. With ongoing federal investments and strong local partnerships, the city is positioned to continue contributing to Canada’s economic and national security priorities.
